Update, January 11: The committee has postponed this hearing until January 18 at 10:00 am ET to provide sufficient time for Mr. Ross to clear the Office of Government Ethics and FBI clearance procedures. Also, the hearing has been moved to room G-50 in the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
Original Entry: The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee will hold a hearing on January 12, 2017 at 10:00 am ET in 253 Russell Senate Office Building on the nomination of Wilbur L. Ross, Jr. to be Secretary of Commerce. He is the only witness.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which operates the nation's civil weather satellites, is part of the Department of Commerce.
Ross is a billionaire investor, turnaround specialist, and former banker.
