NASA Day of Remembrance at KSC, 10:00 am ET, KSC, FL

NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and the Astronaut Memorial Foundation will observe the NASA Day of Remembrance in honor of the astronauts who lost their lives with an event on February 1, 2013, the 10th anniversary of the loss of space shuttle Columbia.   The event will be held at the Space Mirror Memorial at the KSC Visitor Complex beginning at 10:00 am ET and will be broadcast on NASA TV.   Speakers are:

  • Thad Altman, president and CEO of the Astronaut Memorial Foundation (AMF)
  • Jon McBride, Chairman of the AMF Board of Directors and former astronaut
  • Mike Ukleja, Chairman of the AMF Board of Trustees
  • Evelyn Husband-Thompson, widow of Columbia Commander Rick Husband
  • Eileen Collins, former astronaut who commanded the Return to Flight space shuttle mission
  • Rober Cabana, KSC Director and former astronaut
  • William Gerstenmaier, NASA Associate Administrator for Human Exploration and Operations
  • Robert Lightfoot, NASA Associate Administrator

Note: NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden and NASA Deputy Administrator Lori Garver will be participating in a NASA Day of Remembrance wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery at this time.
