House E&C Hrg on Role of Receivers in Spectrum Scarce World, 10:00 am ET, 2322 Rayburn

29-Nov-2012 through 29-Nov-2012

The Subcommittee on Communications and Technology of the House Energy and Commerce (E&C) Committee will hold a hearing on November 29, 2012 at 10:00 am ET in 2322 Rayburn House Office Building on The Role of Receivers in a Spectrum Scarce World.  The description of the hearing is not very specific, but this committee has previously looked into the LightSquared issue where that company claims that the reason its hybrid satellite-terrestrial mobile broadband communications system could cause interference with the Global Positioning System (GPS) is because GPS receiver manufacturers did not properly design their receivers.  This topic therefore may arise at this hearing.   Times, dates and witnesses for congressional hearings are subject to change.  Check the committee's website for up to date information.   Witnesses as of November 27 are:

  • Brian Markwalter, Senior Vice President, Research and Standards, Consumer Electronics Association
  • Ron Repasi, Deputy Chief, Office of Engineering and Technology, Federal Communications Commission
  • Pierre de Vries, Adjunct Professor, Silicon Flatirons, University of Colorado
