House and Senate Return for Legislative Business

The House and Senate both are scheduled to resume legislative business -- regardless of the outcome of the November 6 elections -- on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.  The House schedule on Majority Leader Cantor's website shows the House meeting during the weeks of November 13, November 27, December 3 and December 10, with December 14 as the tentative adjournment date.  The Senate's equivalent website does not show which weeks the Senate will meet through the end of the year.   The two bodies have been in recess (other than pro forma sessions) since September 22, leaving many of the hard decisions -- like dealing with the sequester and other aspects of the "fiscal cliff" the country faces at the end of the year -- for the "lame duck" session that begins on November 13.
